Olympic Fever

Vancouver 2010

it is something that we as Canadians
have been looking forward to
for a long time

it seemed so far away
but now it is right around the corner

the torch relay
was a site to see

it was a 106 day run
visiting more than 1000 communities
across our nation

I got a chance to see it
as it went right past our sub division
one morning back in November
it made me proud
and a little teary eyed

I am after all
a sentimental girl

I am not usually a sports watching
kind of girl
but when it comes to the Olympics
I will watch just about anything

scary ~ I know!

I am keeping my fingers crossed for Canada
as we do have a home advantage

here's hoping we get to hear
our national anthem
a few times!

these are the official Olympic mittens
I love them!

Will you be watching??

I certainly will be watching, Lori. I've always loved the Winter Games, especially the cresta run thingy(!) and the skating. Great Britain don't feature heavily but, I still love watching. Actually, we did quite well in the Luge last time and, of course, there was Torvill and Dean, but they go back a few years now. It must be very exciting for you. 2012 will be here before we know it and then it will be our turn although, I don't think we could match Beijing for an opening ceremony, do you ? XXXX

Are you going to the Olympics? I can just imagine all the festivities that will be going on around them. How fun! My kids watch the Olympics. Usually if something will catch their attention, I try to do stuff! I always liked the ice skating myself.

We will surely catch some of it. It always fills me with emotion. They do a good job of that:)

I am so torn about sneaking up next week while the boys are off of school just to feel some of the energy... I do want a pair of those mittens! Mum is coming down this weekend - maybe I can persuade her to bring me a pair...
