Friday Potpourri

Hello friends ~ Happy Friday

via

via

here I am again in my regularly scheduled spot
you know I was going to discontinue my potpourri post this year
but then I was missing it
I love looking through Pinterest ~ gathering photos
and writing my words
even if it was just a little recap of my week
and plans for the weekend
what can I say ~ I love to share
my words ~ my thoughts and these beautiful pictures

via

via

although we have been in a January thaw with beautiful weather
I am in a soupy kind of mood
pouring over recipes and planning make ahead meals
it is after all still winter although it is not very pretty looking right now
which is fine ~ we have a good 2 months of snow and cold left
then I can start dreaming of spring

tomorrow I am heading out on a little road trip
it's wedding planning time and invitations are on the agenda
I am tickled pink I have been asked to help out

I saws this quilt on a blog posting last week
and I had to find a tutorial for it as I thought it would be the perfect pattern
for my memory quilt
the jury is still out but I think it is going to work ~ we will see

cathedral window quilt

slowly getting around to visit everyone

Trev is sick as a dog so he will be down for the count most of the weekend

tonight my butt is placed firmly on the couch
I have a little black and white snuggled in beside me
and I have some shows recorded and I am about to press play

hope you had a great week
and that this weekend brings smiles.

A Bubble Bath & A Book

Good morning sunshine
did you have a good week-end?

I was a tad bit under the weather
but I did not let it get me down
my good friend Tylenol
helped me along

I did get my decorations
all put away ~ except for a little pile of things
sitting on the kitchen counter...

good thing I got hubby to do that final sweep
with fresh eyes ~ yeah
right

mind you the house looks super bare
as I did not have the energy to clean and put
my stuff back out ~ in time ~ it will all get done

after supper I got in the tub
just me and my book

it was bliss
a glass of wine would have been perfect
but not on this trip

I have started reading Janet Evanovich
her Stephanie Plum series
and although I just finished #4
yup ~ I am way behind
I love them ~ along with the mystery
there are moments of belly laughs
love her writing!

Good thing I had no big plans for Sunday
I was foggy most of the day

so Trev came with me to the grocery store
and then I became one with the couch
had some tea with honey
and watched 50 First Dates

all in all ~ I will take another week-end like this
minus the fog please.

Thank you for all your comments on Friday's post
they made me smile
hope you all had a good week-end
and that the sun shines upon your face today
wherever you may be.

Cups, Saucers and an Anniversary

So last night I hauled out a little box from the basement
one that had about a dozen little china cups
with saucers to match

am I having a tea party??
no ~ but this week-end there will be one
as part of a week-end long anniversary celebration.

The Riverview Fire Department is celebrating their
50th anniversary

as some of you know ~ Trevor ~ aka hubby
joined the department as a volunteer firefighter
back in 2003

through the department we have met so many people
good people and have made some great friends

on Sunday night we went to a meeting
as they were looking for people to help out
over the week-end.

lots to do as you well well imagine with a BBQ on
Friday night for past and present members

an open house at the station on Saturday
with a pancake breakfast
a ladies tea for the spouses

and then a banquet and dance Saturday night
for all to kick back ~ have a few
and dance the night away.

So along with manning the welcome table on Friday night
I offered to supply some cups and saucers for the tea

it was suggested not to take any that I would be crushed
if something happened to them

this one is my absolute favorite
so it went back in the box!

I love that it has an "S" on the bottom from when
my grandmother used to take hers to bridge games
and church functions

so I chose a few along with this little cream & sugar set

my little collection came from my grandmothers
on both sides
and to see them makes me smile
and I remember heaping spoonfuls of sugar
in my tea ~ with milk please

I shudder at the thought of sugar now
but I will take a bit of honey now and then

so my man will be all decked out in his dress uniform
on Saturday night
and I hope to have some shots of the week-end
to share with you on Monday.

Hope your week is going well
and that you have seen more sunshine
than rain.

Happy Wednesday!

Good Reads

I love to read
no big surprises here
to anyone that knows me

doesn't this look like
the perfect spot to curl up?

I always have a book on the go
or a magazine

build me a fire
and I am so there!

I read every day
on my lunch break
it is down time for me
some quality quiet time

A couple of years ago
a friend of mine mentioned a website called
Goodreads

I joined up
listed some books
read some reviews on ones that were on
my wish list

they send out a newsletter
once a month

part of the newsletter is
signing up for a chance to win
a pre-released book

well in January
I signed up for a few
and I was a lucky winner
of one...

I received the book on Monday

it is signed by the author
and I cannot wait to read it!

I actually want to be here

with one of these...

or one of these...

and definitely one of these...

there is nothing like curling up
with a cozy throw
and reading...

I have to finish this one first

I will be honest
I am struggling with it

but have been at it for a week
I am going to try and finish it this week-end

in between this of course

Go Canada!!

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.

I am a certified tea lover at heart

I do love a pretty china cup

and a little milk and honey please

Oh Canada

this is my night time pick right now

there is nothing better
this time of year
than curling up with a good book
and a spot of tea

too cute

gorgeous shot
loving the sunshine streaming in

purple voilets
our Provincial flower
I actually have this one!

would you like to join me for teatime?

cute craft idea from Martha
for you tea loving friends

if you have a spot a tea today think of me please...

It's Raining Again....

It is raining again ~
Seems like we have had more rain than sun here lately
and
some days it just gets you down....
So I need something to wake me up and get me going ~

The sun would be nice

flowers from my garden

and maybe one of these....

But wait ~ those are for the week-end ~ remember??

OK then ~ I guess I will settle for
