Friday Potpourri

Labour day week-end makes me happy
and sad at the same time

a 3 day week-end is always a blessing in disguise
but also tells us that the end of summer
is here....
for most it's the last real week-end for the beach
so I want to feel the sand between my toes

tomorrow we head to the cottage
it will be a week-end of relaxing
lots of walks on the beach
and reading ~ always reading

maybe we will have a bonfire or two

and bbq will be on the menu

hopefully I will find some wildflowers
to plop in a mason jar

I know for sure ~ rain or shine
I will enjoy my little piece of heaven.

Wishing you all a wonderful long week-end.

Dancing in the Dark

This past week-end
we had a legend come into our little city
and rock the hill

the Magnetic Hill music site here in Moncton
is a natural amphitheater that has hosted some of the biggest acts
in music history

it is a little jewel in our crown

when they announced that "The Boss" was coming
I knew I had to go
how could I let it pass me by ~ the tickets were pricy ~ so I went with plan B

one of my best friends ~ Tracey and her daughter Melissa
have connections

and those connections live on the road bordering the concert site grounds
it is where they go to see all the big acts

it was a pretty sweet deal
we brought our own cooler ~ chairs and something to bbq for supper

we may not have been in the thick of it
but when he came on ~ we moved our chairs closer

sang and danced in the field
and remembered our Glory Days

he played for over 3 hours and looked like he was having a ball

sang all my favorites ~ Hungry Heart, 10th Ave Freeze Out,
Dancing in the Dark and so many more

it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended
and although we were not in the site
to get caught up in the energy of the crowds

we had a grand old time
in our "cheap seats"

Thank you Bruce ~ you are a supreme entertainer
and I am so so glad I did not miss this epic event.

Friday Potpourri

Happy Friday
and I think it is time
for a little pretty...

this quote really spoke to me this week
for someone that wishes the weeks away
as they are sometimes just too long
and the week-ends ~ too short

I will do my best to "be" in the moment
and enjoy the weekdays too

country roads ~ take me home
to the place ~ I belong

I think I need some more time on the cape
at our little cabin in the woods
next week-end ~ that is my goal

truly love this picture and the message
as there is nothing like a wooden screen door

and this window ~ I do adore everything about it
the farmhouse sink ~ the old window
and the shelf ~ brilliant!

I have been craving peach pie and these are the cutest ever

 this week has been kind
with more beautiful weather ~ going for some walks
connecting with some old friends
reading books and blogs

remembering this same time last year
when my best girl was here for a week
I won't see her this summer
and I miss her

I think I just talked myself into a phone date with her!

this week-end will be a busy one
Sunday we are heading to an outdoor concert
going to see the "Boss" this year
as Bruce is playing on the hill

looking forward to it ~ spending time with old friends
with some great music
you can't get any better than that!

Hope you have a wonderful week-end

Beach Walk

Something I will never tire of
is this view

no matter how close or far away
I turn around and there it is

I guess it takes me to my happy place
knowing that this is my space
no matter what

Sunday was all mine on our last trip to the cottage
and after brunch I laced up and took off

the birds were on the mudflats
having their lunch I suppose
and every once in awhile they would take flight

my cousin Donny was my walking partner
along with the dogs

he was quite sick last year and although he is still too too thin
he is getting there ~ gaining weight and getting back on his feet

we were collecting beach glass
which is something we used to do together as kids

we talked ~ reminisced ~ laughed
I am glad he was able to get down and spend some time

we walked back the old road
and although there is hardly any bank left anymore
I love that there are flowers planted there

it takes you back to a time
when there was not only a bank
but a building that sat on the shore side of the road

we got back and relaxed
as you can see ~ someone was very tired!

Happy Monday

Friday Potpourri

Where on earth is August going
I feel like it is zooming by
and I feel helpless ~ just sitting and watching it go

the sun has been shining and the humidity is not my friend
but I will take it over a wind chill any day!

this week has been low key
reading ~ reading ~ reading

feeling happy when I logged into Pinterest
and connected with someone I have been missing
funny how the little things can bring the biggest joy

fresh corn on the cob and butter running down my chin
is summer at it's best

via unknown

tomorrow we will take a trip
and spend some time at the flea

I have some things in mind ~ I am on the lookout

last night we finally got out for our anniversary dinner
then home ~ we are so predictable
but happy

hope you had a week that had more joy than tears
and that the sun shone upon your face

wishing everyone the best week-end
