Deck the Halls

Every year
I dig out the trim
and say to myself

"This year I will do something different"

"This year I will move "said" items around"

When I look back through my picture files
of the past 3 Christmases
everything is in the SAME place

I said before
that I am a creature of habit

and this my friends
is a habit I would like to change

Now I do not want to go all drastic
small changes at first

I am very traditional when it comes to Christmas
I love home made
and red & green

the tree has to stay there
really...
it is also in front of the window
and it is the best place for it
really....

and no ~ those gifts were not all ours
they were outgoing gifts
for the brood on both sides.

the mantle I have changed up
a bit
over the years I have added cranberry beads
and candles
and different bows
along with pine cones
and bundled cinnamon sticks with raffia

I do adore my mantle
my staircase is done much the same
any suggestions of changing it
without going too drastic??

I found this idea in the
Canadian Living magazine
a couple of years ago...

I had vintage ornaments from the farm
and displayed them in this glass bowl
I plan on doing something similar this year
and have purchased a new bowl to boot!

I bought this 2 years ago
and last year I made a couple to give as gifts

I love them and they are so easy to make
if you have time and patience
oh - and a diamond drill bit!

So blog buddies
any suggestions??

I use different sizes of vases and fill them with the colorful bulbs to put on the tables and I have some small live trees also and mini roses that I like to display. I am big on fresh things and using decorations from nature. Your pictures are beautiful, Lori. I was just getting ready to dig my holiday boxes out to take an inventory. Happy Sunday! xxoo

This looks great. I love looking at these pictures, it makes me so excited for decorating our house. This has always been one of my favorite parts of Christmas, is decorating. I just love it so much.

I wish I had a picture but another suggestion is get a coloured wine bottle, the bigger the better and fill with tiny white xmas lights and put a xmas ribbon around the top. Make great hostest gifts also.
I kinda miss decorating as we drive home for xmas but not to our own house. I have boxes and boxes of ornaments that are collecting dust. I really must give them to my kids one of these seasons. (if they want them of course),,,,

WOW I'm impressed you made that beautiful light up package! I say leave the tree where it's at...that really is the perfect spot and it looks great...and get a little more creative with the mantle if you want and change things up a bit there :) I love vintage ornaments displayed in a glass bowl - yours look so lovely Lori! Have a wonderful week!!!

Hi Lori, your Christmas decorations look great....so warm and welcoming.
I don't think that you need to ask what to do. you have been doing a great job for quite a few years all on your own. I think that you should see if you can find a new Chridtmas cocktail !! XXXX
