The Devil Made Me Do It.....

My grandmother always called them
The Devil's Paintbrush

honestly

I did not know what they were
really called

until I was in my late 20's

of all the wildflowers out there
I think this is my favorite

Orange Hawkweed
stands on it's own

brilliant and more pretentious
than it's yellow cousins

I will pull the car over
to get a shot of these

and if the wind is blowing
a bit too hard
I will hold onto it
to "get the shot"

I am not sure why
these little beauties
draw me to them

I am not a big orange fan
although I do not hate the colour

maybe because in a world of
daisies and buttercups

they hold their own
but do not get nearly enough attention

I took this shot 3 years ago
and it is still one of my favorites

along with this one

Happy Monday!!

Good morning, I love all the flower photos. I have an album full of the same. My husband just doesn't get it...he teases me endlessly as to why I need another picture of more flowers. The answer is, because it makes me happy...and so did this post!

Those look really cool, almost like cut paper flowers. I also like flowers that look different or unique. Have a great week.

Never seen these before, goodness Lori, what a lesson for today.
We don't have those here......so envious of you and your Canadian wildflowers.

We have a similar wildflower here called Indian Paintbrush. Has the loveliest orange colors!

Lori - these are just beautiful. I bet they'd make the perfect little side arrangement to a plate of ebelskivers...you need that pan. It's lethal. :)

Those are lovely. I've never heard or seen them before that I know of. Love your post.
