With October drawing to a close
I wanted to reflect on something
that does not just happen in October
it happens all year long
for quite a few people
~Breast Cancer Awareness Month~
I do not think that one family in the world
has not been touched by cancer.
Whether it is someone from your immediate family
or an aunt or a cousin...
I want to dedicate this post to my
Aunt Francie
She was my grandmother’s sister
the baby of their family
she was Dad’s favorite Aunt
which = we spent a lot of time with her
It was her that sold Dad the land
to build the cottage
for $1.00
yup one smackaroo
She loved to knit and sew and bake
man she could bake.

Boxing Day at her house was always a treat
a lazy susan full of goodies
all was good….until it was time to do the dishes...
I hate doing dishes
Anywhoo...
She has been gone now for 25 years
hard to believe
she fought a good fight and taught me a lot
I think she would like these shoes
and would be sitting beside me having one of those cocktails!
So ~ check your boobies ladies!

This is so sweet... thank you for posting this. It really is something that touches thousands of lives every year. So much money and support has been raised around the world because of this month, and hopefully more and more awareness continues to grow. I love the rainboots with the pink ribbon, those are totally appropriate!
What a fabulous post my friend. It is such a significant problem, and I hope that we see the cure in our lifetime.
(and thankfully, finding lumps is easy when you have very *little* to search! :) )

Aunt Francie sounds like a beautiful, full of life woman! We never really understand the dire circumstances of breast cancer until someone we love contacts the disease. I'm so glad that it is becoming a well talked about subject. Love your pictures and those 2die4 cakes!
First of all, Lori, apologies if I miss any of your posts....I'm having terrible trouble getting into some blogs....yours being one of them. Does this ever hhappen to you ? It's so frustrating.

What a poignant post... my favorite aunt had cancer, she is a survivor. Cancer research has made great strides but there's more to be done. Thanks for the tribute, Aunt Francie would be proud!
