Sometimes....

Yesterday I almost had a mini panic attack
thinking that I was lagging behind
things that should be done weren't
will I be ready?

then I looked at the calendar
it was the 23rd of November
so no ~ I am not running behind schedule
as a matter of fact I am ahead of the game

it seems everywhere I turn in blog land
people are all decked out for Christmas

I loved this post last week from Jeanne

I know people are getting ready for home tours
and Thanksgiving
they have their trees up ~ the halls are decked

but I will sit here sipping my hot chocolate
and finish writing up my Christmas cards
and come the 1st I will be ready
no panic attacks necessary

Lori you are reading my mind. I felt the same way when I read Jeanne's post too. And this evening I'm sipping tea and hot gluing twigs together for my Thanksgiving table and I'm totally content. With no Christmas decorations in sight.
By the way, I love this quote because ever since I became a blogger I've become so aware of this whole other world where women rush to be the first ones to get their decorations up so they can post photos and join linky parties (and I assume) gather lots of followers...you know what? I've bowed out of that scene. I've discovered that for me, adding that pressure to my life is a joy stealer. Sometimes I feel like a tortoise in a world of hares hahaha
Thanks for stopping by today and sharing your thoughts about my post. I always love hearing from you Lori.
have a great week,
Leslie

Lori...I really agree with you and Leslie in so many ways. So as to not contradict what I've said in posts and how I feel, I've always wanted to bring Christmas on sooner because with the dilemma of getting a real live tree, Christmas has never started for us any earlier than the 2nd week of December. And this has been the deal all of my life...the anticipation, the envy of other kids that had the whole holiday thing going on right after Thanksgiving. And oh, how I love the excitement of Christmas, as always.

That said, it saddens me that there are people out there that rush to be the first ones with their decor finished like there is a deadline. And the parties are quite a letdown because the bloggers hosting them rarely seem to visit any of the gals joining. Parties are not the same any more...the whole idea used to be that you visited as many participants as you could. Old rules, I guess. Ever once in awhile I join a party and I find some lovely blogs to follow.

So...my thoughts are on Thanksgiving, then getting a live, healthy tree to bring that spirit and joy into my home. Then what may be will be! :)

XO,
Jane

I feel behind too. Nothing is decorated. Our Christmas picture hasn't been taken etc... We're all in such a hurry to keep up. It's exhausting. Love you girl:-)

I'm fairly new to blogging so I'm not too familiar with all your 'thanks giving' traditions. I'm English living in France and have family in Denmark so my Christmas celebrations are a little bit from each country. I don't start until the 1st Sunday in December, and even then I always think it's a little early so I can understand how pressured you must feel, but do your own thing and not what every other person is doing. Enjoy your blogging and also enjoy your own thanksgiving whenever and however you choose to celebrate.
I've followed you for sometime and always enjoyed seeing what you share.

You're WAY AHEAD of me, Lori - I have not started anything and I have bowed out of cooking a big Thanksgiving meal - too much going on right now and I'm looking forward to just hanging out and being a guest and helping with the clean up of it all...I usually start decorating the first week in December and get my tree the following week. As you well understand, I can't wait to start a fresh new year - this one about done me in emotionally!! Lots of hugs and love, sweet friend. Thank you so much for your kind words and support - it really means alot to me! xxoo
