Time Flies

This past week-end flew by

and before you know it

it's Tuesday night!

like some ~ I was cozied up on Sunday night

watching the Oscars

not sure why as I only saw one of the nominated movies

but I love the red carpet

all the dresses ~ the bling ~ the eye candy

I won't post dresses and such

as there are others like Simone

that do a much better job of that

I did see this shot though and thought the ring was gorgeous

I am out of sorts this week
think I am PMSing
oh joy ~ but I am trying to relax a bit

spending some time for me
and making plans for this upcoming week-end

nothing too much fun let me assure you
I am taking Monday off

a mental health day ~ a jammie day
a day of nothing planned

so as long as I can get my cleaning and errands done on
Sat. & Sun
this shall happen for me.

Friday Potpourri

Today I am breathing a sigh of relief

it has been a week of ups and downs

there were times that I could not wait to get home

to my safe haven

which leads me to today's post

what does home mean to you?

is it a bouquet of flowers on the table

a good cuppa hot tea

your favourite nook or cranny

to me it is being surrounded by the familiar

pictures ~ smells ~ things that you love

and that bring you comfort

comfort food means home

along with your best loved linens

whether it is an old quilt or the newest puffy comforter

why all this talk about home today

because yesterday morning Mom came home from the hospital

oh happy day

I wanted her to come here for a week or so

but she wanted to go home

can't say I blame her

she went in on the 27th of January

and spent 27 days

she is doing so well

and all she wants right now is a bath

so I will head over there tonight

and grant her, her wish

Forget Me Not

This week-end heaven gained another angel

as my Aunt Dot got her wings

and went home...

born Dorothy Ann

my Dad's oldest sister

started with Aphasia a few years ago

then went into Alzheimer's disease

she was the most like my Grandmother Stiles

she was a tremendous cook

loved to garden ~ her flowers were always so beautiful

she was the family patriarch I suppose

the oldest of 5 

Alzheimer's scares the living crap out of me

they say it is not hereditary 

but personally I don't believe it

as it took my grandmother and one of her sisters

that's 2 out of 3

then on to my Dad's generation

and 2 out of 5 either have it

or signs of it....so far

at least I know Aunt Dot is well again

and I betcha the party at the big farm in heaven

was quite a celebration on Saturday!

Mom is doing so good

if she keeps going like she has been

I think she will be home by next week-end.

Hoping your week-end has been full of more smiles 

than tears.

Friday Potpourri

Here we are again

it's Friday

it's been an eventful one for sure

not that we did a lot for Valentine's Day

but that's ok

Trev's surgery went well and he is sore

but it will be all worth it in the end

Tuesday afternoon I walked into ICU

and Mom was gone ~ someone else was in her bed

gave me a start for sure but it was all good

she got moved to a regular room

and she is doing so well ~ I am so so happy

dreaming of spring

so cute!

sinful looking but I bet they are oh so good

I think this would be the perfect spot to spend the week-end

with a cuppa tea and a good book

as for the rest of the week-end ~ it's free and clear

it's been one hell of a week at work

so I need some time to de-stress

take some time to visit Mom

catch up on some recorded tv

and just relax

I think I deserve it.

Be My Valentine

today I celebrate

the man that makes my heart happy

he makes me laugh

and is my anchor in stormy seas

we do not need a special day to say

I Love You

as it is spoken each and every day

tonight we will not be going out to dinner

we also do not need a special occasion in order to do that

today he is going in for dental surgery

how romantic!

so tonight I will be heating up some soup I think

and taking care of my boy.

just to update...

Mom is doing very well ~ had supper last night for the first time

in over 2 weeks

she kicked that feeding tube to the curb

and her breathing is better

I think this Valentines will be my favorite one ever

as I think she will be out of ICU this week

such great news

whatever you plan today

The Calm After the Storm

There was actually a calm before the storm too

as Friday it was gorgeous

the sun was shining

I felt like a cat wanting to seek out the beam

and take it all in

they were predicting a good ole fashion

n'oreaster for Saturday afternoon

and overnight hours

so it was up early

off to the hospital and running errands

before it all started

then we hunkered down on couch

and listened to the wind blow

today we woke up to 30 cm of

new fallen snow

there was blue sky ~ but cold

brrrr cold

I popped outside long enough to take a few shots

then it was back in

Trev worked at clearing everything outside

and I puttered around in

first up was banana bread

then a big pot of chili with fresh biscuits

then it was on to a recipe I found here

in hearts of course for Valentines

and they are yummy yummy!

I sprinkled sugar on some

and then pink and red sugar on others

I will not tell you how many of those little ones I ate

fresh from the oven ~ but it was sinful!

Mom is doing better ~ still in ICU

but that is due to her ongoing issues with her lungs

they are only putting her on the vent at night

and keeping her off it longer and longer

she is feeling better I can tell

and has started using the dry erase board I bought

so we have communication!

I am currently under my blanket on the couch

watching the Grammy Awards

cheering for Adele and still in disbelief about Whitney
