Seasons Change

Last Sunday we drove down to the cape
to close up the cottage for the season

I love living in a place where there are 4 distinct seasons
and I can see the differences as each one arrives

with Spring brings hope ~ new life
things turning green

melting snow ~ warmer weather

then comes Summer ~ sunshine ~ vacation
beach time ~ dinner on the patio
longer days ~ beautiful blossoms everywhere and
new memories being made

with Autumn it is warm days and cooler nights
crunchy leaves and sweaters
and the colour show is breathtaking

skipping over Winter right now ~ not my favourite for sure
although I could not image a Christmas without snow...

so closing up the cottage makes me sad in one way

sad that summer is over but when I sat down to write in the guestbook
I smiled at all the entries ~ people that have walked through the door this year
good times with good friends

it's a long weekend for us
so as of 6 tonight ~ I have 3 days off
it is Thanksgiving here in Canada
so we will gather at the inlaws camp on Sunday and give thanks and eat turkey
then to Mom's on Monday for a ham dinner

yes ~ we are blessed.

Oh crikey Lori,
It only seemed the other day that you were opening it up ..... time flashes by so quickly.
Wishing tou a wonderful special weekend with your family. XXXX

I know how you feel. When I close up 'la Petite Maison' I know the season is over. Sometimes we are lucky and maybe get the odd visitor who is house hunting in our region looking to buy a little cottage tucked away in a country corner of France.
Fantastic photos
enjoy your holiday long weekend.

Lori I completely relate to your ambivalent feelings about closing the cottage. What a lovely way you have with words... you described the change in seasons beautifully. And doesn't it seem like the changes come upon us more quickly these days? But I thought your guest book was a reminder for all of us to keep our focus on being grateful. I know it sounds corny, but behind every goodbye is a chance to be thankful for what we had. The older I get the more I realize that this is the real secret to staying positive and happy.
Thanks for being you and always sharing such genuineness here.
hugs,
Leslie
