Another Project Completed!

My favorite magazine is
Canadian Living

we were joking at work about
how you know you have grown up
when this becomes the favorite over
Cosmo!!

I used to save them all
had them piled in the office
with post it notes
stuck in saving recipes
crafts and home & garden ideas

when I spent an hour one night
looking for a recipe
I know something had to change

so I went out and bought a binder,
some dividers and clear plastic sleeves
and went to work

with my trusty exact o knife
I went through 3 years of issues
and cut out my favorites

found a box that everything would fit in
and put it on my "to do" list

of course my helper was there
she is never far away...

Victoria day week-end
it was gorgeous outside
so I took everything out to the deck
and started sorting
making piles

recipes and others

put them in the clear plastic sleeves
and drop them in the binder

I did up a cover page

and
something for the spine

it still needs some tweaking
but much more organized than it was!

I am linking up to
Funky Junk's
"Gitter Done"
because I finally gotter done
and it's a fun little linky party!!

Great job! I need to pick up a copy of Canada Living..you're the third person I've heard of recently who says it's a favorite!

This is a wonderful, organized and brilliant idea! I'm going to try this with my knee high stacks of Better Homes, Traditional Homes, Victoria, Romantic Home, Fine Cooking, Cooks Illustrated and House Beautiful.

Good for you! Now you inspire me.
I just don't know what to do with my old magazines, I hate to throw them away.
Enjoy your week!

Congratulations!
That is a huge, time consuming job, and hard to not get distracted reading.
So far I have sorted my years of magazines by title and somewhat subject. You are inspiring me to do more.

That's what I do as a practicing magazinaholic. I have to cut and sleeve my favs or I would be found buried under piles of magazines. Nice tutorial on it.

Oh my gosh... this is fabulous! I started doing this LONG ago with decorating mags and they still sit in a dusty heap. Hmm....

Great project. Bet you're really glad to have it behind you!

Thanks for linking up!

You go girl. That is not a project for the faint of heart. I have a secret obsession with magazines and then I KEEP them. I've cleared through them several times with large 30 gallon trash bag by my side. But STILL haven't actually put my saved articles in a binder all organized. Wanna come down here and help me?? PLEASE:)

Hi there Lori,
First of all, I tried about three times to comment on your Lupin post. Isn't it frustrating ? I hate missing commenting on any of your posts.
Anyway, I love lupins. When we first moved here, we had lots, planted in late Victorian times, I imagine. After a few years of them re seeding themselves, they disappeared and I haven't had any success since !!
.... and, I love what you did with your magazines. My sister does that (she is far more organised than I am !!) I always mean to do it but, never get round to it. You have spurred me on to sort all of my magazines out now.
Have a lovely week, Lori. XXXX

Great job! This is on my To-Do list also! I have a recipe stack and a house idea stack. I'm great at keeping the magazines.... not so great at keeping it all organized. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wonderful idea! I have a magazine addiction and it gets out of hand quite often. I should give this a try.
