Rolling on the River

What a simply gorgeous week-end we had here
the weather was perfect

makes you want to stay outside all day
and all night week-end

then Sunday night comes along
and then Monday morning and we are back at it

Sunday we had a mission though
as we traveled to the city of Miramichi
to attend a 50th anniversary party
for our sister in law's parents

in their banquet room

it was quite the setting

the gardens were beautiful

the path leading down to the river

the Miramichi river is known all over to be
one of the best places to fish salmon

we hope to get back up this year as they also offer tubing
which is a blast and a great way to spend a hot Saturday afternoon!

I mentioned on Friday that I was going treasure hunting
Trevor's Aunt had to be put into a home
so his cousins are cleaning out the house and were having a yard sale.
I grabbed Trev's Mom and we went to help set up
and of course I nabbed a few odds and ends
that tickled my fancy.

a big old platter ~ a couple of old cookbooks and a vintage suitcase
plus a couple of cups & saucers and some vintage gadgets

there was so much stuff there that I could have brought home
but I was a good girl.

on the drive yesterday to the party I was on the lookout for lilacs
I found the perfect bush ~ close to the road
no houses around ~ so we stopped on the way home and I got them
the house smells divine right now

oh how I love thee

Hope you had a sunshiney week-end
and that you had a reason to smile

Have a great week!

Old Window Love

Here we are again
Friday

and it is truly TGIF

first week back to work after vacation is
I think the longest week of them all!

As I sit here tonight
playing blog catch up
after eating pizza for supper

I feel fall's chill in the air
it has rained here all week
and I do not think Mother Nature missed
a day

no.she.did.not

the forecast for the week-end however
is calling for sunshine
so I am hoping to get outside
and work on a couple of new projects

this little gem was down at the cottage
and I am going to clean it up
and make it into a mirror

I also found this

it needs some cleaning up too

but look at how pretty she is...

I think she will hang in the living room
behind the couch

maybe...

I think I will play around with it

there are so many things I want to do
but I know I will have to prioritize my list
as I need some R & R too

So ~ what are your plans for the last official
week-end of the summer?

You must take a minute
and drop over to see Trishy
as she is having an incredible give-away!

I wish you all a wonderful week-end

thank you for your comments this week
I will be by ~ I promise!

Hunted, Found & Sold!

Well ~ I am back....

The item I was looking for on our flea market quest yesterday
was found within the first hour ~
I would have been happy to have jumped in the car and headed back home
for blender drinks, but no ~
7 hours later.....

Let me set the scene:

Rally the troops into the car and drive for about an hour or so
to the town of Sussex, NB.
Stop at the local bakery for brown bread and cheese English muffins ~
so far so good......

This flea market that boasts to be the biggest outdoor sale in Canada
covers a HUGE area ~
I would not even venture to guess how big Princess Louise Park is.....

This booth had quite a few treasures ~ not so much trash

Now ~
Mother Nature MUST have a sense or humour,
because after all the rain she provided us in May, June & July ~
we have had a hot spell here.
I do not mind the heat but the humidity sucks the life right out of me.
So the temperature with the humidity here yesterday was in the high 90's.

Loved this old Harley!

So ~ can you even imagine how many man boobs & beer belly's
I saw yesterday?? Too many to count!

This guy had some beautiful furniture pieces

I was psyched though....
Somehow I knew I would find it....

Yeah for me! Actually Trev spotted it first and the price was right too.
Love it when I can haggle a bargain!

Kim ~ I saw this and thought of you...

I also picked up some glass pieces thinking they would make cute vases.
Well ~ one IS a vase, but I thought it was really cute:

The Crown mason jar is so nice and big ~ I love the glass top and how the
Made in Canada is big as life on the back of it.
I know exactly where it is going and what I am putting in it.

So after traveling around for 4 1/2 hours I radioed Trev....
I have found a chair....
under a tree....
which means shade....
I have my sneakers off....
wishing my flip flops were in my bag and not the car....
and he is not answering me!
He does not even have his radio on ~ good thing we brought them!
Gotta love him!

Old chairs all lines up in the sun

So once he answered his cell phone, luckily he had kept that ON
we met up, had a bite and I went back to the car.
I had enough and my lawn chair and book were
calling me ~ I am not a novice ~ I HAVE done this before!
Plus ~ I am reading Lisa Jackson....
Have you read her? If you like mysteries she is GOOD!

This is the sequel to Left to Die ~ a good read
and I was glad to have a good read since Trev decided to join me
back at the car almost 2 hours after I left him.

All in all it was a great day and I am happy with what I found.
I did see a couple of larger pieces I would have loved to have bought
but with the house on the market, I was trying to keep things small this time around.

So ~ this is my booty
All for under $20.00
Some of the bakery goods snuck into the shot too!

Treasure Hunting

This week-end is our area's annual giant flea market.
It advertises itself as being the
largest outdoor flea market in Canada ~
all I know is that it takes all day to go through it.

It sure is not Farm Chicks or Barn House ~
there will be no cute outfits or name tags ~
it will be comfortable shoes
and by the sounds of the forecast lots of water
as the humidity is suppose to
S*P*I*K*E....

In past years there has been just as many junk tables
as there were treasures.

And I really mean junk ~
it is amazing what people will try to sell for a dollar!

I am going there with a purpose ~
I am looking for something from the past ~
of course!
I found one on eBay ~ but I am not willing to spend that much of my hard earned money on it!
It is just a can, but seeing it takes me back to my childhood ~
playing in the kitchen chamber at the farm.

And before you ask ~
I already looked last time I was there to see if there was
still one kicking around.

Mind you I did not scour every corner ~
but I am pretty sure they were all tossed.

I am taking my camera ~
so I plan to bring home more pictures than treasures.
But you never know what I might find...
as I now have a new eye for all my old stuff.

Did I tell you that I like
that it is called "vintage" now and not "antique"
does not sound nearly as stuffy....

What are your week-end plans?
