Adjusting

Well hello.....

how was your summer?

we have been adjusting ~ it has been a different one for us for sure
but with change comes acceptance
and we move along
we still work and eat and sleep
and rinse and repeat
and somewhere along the line ~ new memories are made

July was a bit of a blur ~ then my cousin called (aka my best girl)
and she wondered if she could come down for a week or so
with her 2 boys for a little vacation

I checked with Trev as did not know if he would be up to company
but he said yes and we had a great time

the first weekend they were here was the last weekend of July
and we had a family gathering
I think the final count was 25 and the only pics I took were of the kids on my phone

do I regret not getting my "big girl" camera out ~ a little
but I had so much fun just chatting with everyone and enjoying the day

we did some fun things during the week then headed to the cape on Friday night

this is Gina, Brandon & Kyle
let's just say that these boys were raised in the city
they had no service on their phones ~ no wifi ~ 2 channels on the tv
they were lost

and I think the cottage is a little but too rustic for them
but all in all we had a good time

Our cousin Anne came down on Saturday for another visit
then that night we made a big bonfire ~ roasted hot dogs and marshmallows

we watched the sandpipers take flight on the beach
climbed rocks ~ walked through fields ~ visited the farm
and told stories to the boys

I love how the sweet william is still blooming at the farm

the following weekend my God daughter Jillian was married
I will do an entire wedding post because I am so happy for this one
I am so proud

then the next weekend was the giant flea market in Sussex
which we always go with #thebestneighboursever
and although we did not bring a lot home ~ we had fun

this past weekend Trevor worked charter both days
driving bus to shuttle people back and forth to the airport as we had an air show

then a family gathering on Sunday for his side which he couldn't attend but I did

I thought I would find it hard being at the camp
but I think him not being there made it easier for me as in my state of denial
I put both him and his Dad off somewhere together

I know when it finally does hit me it will be like a landslide
and I am bracing myself for it

I hope your summer has been full of sunshine and rain showers
smiles and tears of happiness not sorrow

I will be around to visit ~ I have been reading all summer
trying to keep up

vacation starts on Friday and I for one am ready

xoxo

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Winding down on my photos from Gina's visit

we took advantage of my time off and got some family visits in

the night before she left we went to our cousin's place for supper
and had a great time

she left on Friday night and
you know airports always make me cry
I think it must be the air
drier maybe...

before the tears started to flow
we took pictures!

Gina & Gord

with our good friend Pete

a group shot of the 3 of us

this is one of my favorite shots of us

Gina's cute flats with her new pedicure peeking out

she will kill me for this one
I call it her cabbage patch face
this is where things started to go downhill....

we really hate saying goodbye
but spending time together like this
even if it is in short spurts
makes us appreciate the time we have together
even more

can I just say thank goodness for Facebook
on line chat & email
as they keep us close even from a distance

Happy Thursday!

Day Tripping

Tuesday we got up early and hit the road
as it was time for a little adventure

we headed to Prince Edward Island
Canada's smallest province

stopped on our side of the Confederation Bridge
for a photo op

then across the bridge we go
after a stop at the welcome center
we started on the Antiques Trail

of course a trip to the island would not be complete
without a shot of that red dirt and a field of potatoes

one of our first stops was a treasure trove
some things were pricey ~ some were priced to sell

we saw lots of windows

and some great old farm equipment

the scenery was beautiful
and it really was a perfect day

this handsome guy came with us
he was the driver

love love these flowers
I know it is a type of hydrangia
but not sure exactly which type
does anyone know?

the best part of the day was that it was spent with
2 people that I love with all my heart

as we headed back across the bridge
to meet friends for our seafood feast
we were tired but content

believe it or not ~ I bought nothing
nada
of course I kick my butt that
I left a couple of things behind

next time....

The Best of Times

Well hello there
it has been awhile and I have been a busy girl

as you know my best girl (aka cousin) was here for a week

is this not just a gorgeous picture
I love it ~ her ~ not so much!

So while she was here ~ we had a little family gathering
Samantha and I made cookies for the affair

the flip flops were fun and easy to make
the glasses ~ not so much
but we salvaged some and got them decorated

Trev toasted the event by opening his last can of cerveza
smuggled brought home from Cuba

of course we made two batches of what we lovingly now call
swish ~ posted about here and found here
2 blenders were going
and we ate our faces off

oh Lori ~ why are there no pictures of this??
well ladies ~ when you have had a bit too much to drink
in the hot sun
and put your camera down without turning it off
the batteries go dead!

so you have the cookie shots
one of Trev
and one of the first group that arrived and proceeded
to drag the chairs off the deck into the shade...

and that was that!

we did have a great time and sat out until the wee hours
singing and laughing
making memories

Sunday we were treated to breakfast out
then headed over to Trev's cousins pool

noodle hog

Trev & I

Gina catching some rays
 we had so much fun!

We got to our movie, a day trip to PEI,
visited family, dined out, dined in, shopped
and so much more.

I really enjoyed having the time off while she was here
and able to make some plans.

I took lots of photo's on the island and will share
them in a couple of days...

I was also featured last week over at
I had so much fun answering these questions
drop over for a visit if you have a minute!

for now I want to leave you with this

these are words of a great Canadian that we lost too soon
to cancer last Monday.  RIP Jack.

I cannot wait to get around to see what everyone has
been up to!

Planning Mode

Everything is coming together
and the time is ticking down

someone very special to me
is coming for a visit
and arriving tomorrow night

I am a tad bit excited....

my cousin Gina is flying in and spending a week

I have written about her visits in the past
I call her my best girl
we are two peas in a pod
and I love her with all my heart

so when she comes to visit
I know that we will have a good time
whether we are curled up on the couch chatting
and drinking tea

or

dancing into the night with a cold one in our hands

this quote says it all

~*~*~*~*~*~

So this Saturday I have planned a little family gathering
and one of the things I found on Pinterest
and fell in love with ~ I made for the week-end

Rhi over at Hey Gorgeous
made them here for a bridal shower

picture and how to found here

**disclaimer here ~ use plain dixie cups to start
or when you turn them on you will be able to see the pattern
that was on the cup!  Yes ~ I learned that my friends from experience
epic fail....

I am going with summer ~ sunshine ~ flipflops
and blender drinks theme
and now I bow my head once again to pray for
sunshine

the long range looks good ~ yeehaw

I have 3 days off next week so some of our plans include

a road trip to Prince Edward Island
and hopefully we will find some goodies

an appointment is made for a pedicure

movie night!
I read this book last summer and cannot wait to see the movie

of course we will have some of these

another recipe found here

spending time with family & friends
eating seafood
and just having fun

chances are you will not see me around much over the
next week or so ~ but do not worry
I shall return!

xo
