Catching Up

It's Sunday afternoon and supper's in the slow cooker

spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove ~ I have been to the grocery store

and since it has been raining off and on all day

I have been puttering around the house getting a few things done

things have been neglected ~ but aren't they always when the weather is nice

and we all just want to be outside?

after my husband called me a picture hoarder yesterday

and since I didn't blog anymore ~ why did I take so many

wait ~ what....

this place has been neglected lately as well

so I here to catch up a bit

and babe ~ I have always loved taking pictures

I don't think that will ever change!

Canada Day celebrations were different for us this year

as I headed to the beach and Trev stayed behind as he was helping out

in a neighboring village with their fireworks display

I picked up my nieces, Sam and Kat, and Kat's bf, Jon as

Sammie's sweet 16 party was at her grandfather's cottage

and it was my first time there

we walked on the beach ~ played frisbee ~ ate too much

it was everything Canada Day is supposed to be

surrounded by friends and loved ones

even though I was missing my boy

they had a bonfire and fireworks ~ but I had to head back into the city

so I missed out on that but a good time was had by all.

Good to be back!

Summer Days

After a little busy spell ~ I thought I would pop in today

to say hi!

last weekend was a busy one

on the go all 3 days ~ celebrated Canada Day

and showed our red & white

all three days

Saturday was errands and getting together with

the best neighbours ever for game night

keeping in the spirit I found red & white chips

we had fun

Sunday was to the camp for ribfest 

as my FIL was going to use his smoker for the first time

let's just say we finished cooking them on the bbq

and using the smoker requires a learning curve for him

they were delish!

all decked out for Canada Day on Monday

we spent the afternoon at the park ~ stopped for ice cream on the way home

and put the air conditioner in the bedroom window

local strawberries are making me happy

lots of trifle, shortcake and slicing them on my cereal in the morning

I cannot get enough of them

Sam turned 14 on Tuesday

so Wed night I picked up her and Kat ~ met Trev for supper

then the girls went shopping

it is something I do for their birthdays and at Christmas

I not only am assured I am buying something that they like or want

but we have quality time as well

I love that they still love hanging around with me

this weekend was more low key

I have read 2 magazines ~ finished my book

and puttered around the house

it is too humid to do anything else

last night I went to my high school reunion

30 years ~ it hardly seems possible

but it was great reconnecting with people and 

love that it was a casual affair at a local pub

and now I shall go and pick out my next book to read

from my overflowing bookcase

Friday Potpourri

It is Friday

and we celebrate a long weekend

and that makes me happy

stick them in the flower pots ~ hang my bunting
this is one of my favourite holidays

yeah ~ a no brainer

I had dinner this week with a couple of ladies I used to work with

it was so good to see them ~ we sat and talked until the restaurant closed

then promised to get together again soon

Friday ~ Red & White

Ahh Friday ~ thank you for showing up

the first week back after a week off is the longest

and when the promise of a long week-end is ahead

it is usually even longer

of course we celebrate Canada Day on Sunday

hard to believe that a year ago Will was here with his new bride

and they made quite a splash in Ottawa on Canada Day

this week-end will be a busy one

Saturday night is the end of the year bbq for the fire department

as the volunteers stop their training for the summer

so shooters are in my future!

Sunday is Canada Day

so we will dress in red & white

and head out to the park ~ listen to the bands

meet with friends

and pray for sunshine

then another get together with friends that night

I love this holiday ~ I am a Canadian girl

from head to toe and I love waving my flag

now I would love for you to go and visit Kim

if you have read here for any length of time you know I have a huge girl 

crush on Miss Kimberly ~ I love her to death ~ I really do

well she does not get her big heart from strangers
