Friday Potpourri

This has been a week of reconnecting
face time
girlfriends

Monday night was dinner with girls I used to work with
these are kindred spirits ~ we grew up together
have been through so much together
learned about life together
and I love when we go out to dinner ~ catch up on each others lives
we can be ourselves ~ true blue friends
I love these girls

then last night another dinner
with another group of girlfriends
talking about kids (them) ~ furry kids (me)
remembering the good times
falling back into the familiar
it is a good thing ~ it really is

Christmas shopping is on my mind
I finally have some ideas from family
so I have started my list and now have 2 gifts bought

a few little projects lined up for the week-end
along with a new recipe to try

Sunday will be a day to pause
and reflect
and most of all ~ remember those that fought for us
so we can live in a free country today

Have a wonderful week-end.

~ Remembrance ~

Today is the day
we honor those that have served in war

they are the reason we have the freedoms
we have today

seeing a veteran today
brings a tear to my eye

but they also make my heart proud

we wear a poppy on our lapel
to honor these brave men and women

I wear mine with pride

true north strong and free

Oh Canada
we stand on guard for thee

Remember

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day

it is the day that we honour
the brave men and women
who fought in past wars
and present ones

we pin a poppy
over our hearts
to show respect
and to show we care

Flanders Field in Belgium

so although I will remove my poppy tomorrow
I will continue to honour the veterans
that gave me freedom

I remember learning this poem in school
and reciting it on Remembrance Day:
