Summer's Last Hurrah

There is a definite chill in the air
and the chill was very apparent here yesterday
as it was unseasonably cool
more so at the dog park than at home
as it is by the water

So after running some errands
on the way home
I decided to go outside
and shoot some of summer's last hurrah

I still have some cosmos blooming

and the hydrangea is such a pretty color this year

the sedums are so pretty

and I bought and planted
a mum in my big pot out front

I love the color of this one!

It will soon be time to take the windchimes
down for the season
and that makes me sad...

Although I enjoy the crispness of autumn
I dislike very much the white stuff that comes after it!

Cosmo Love

I am a lover of most flowers
~ one however that tugs at my heartstrings is the Cosmo.

You see growing up and spending week-ends on my grandparents farm
~ there are certain things that you take for granted
~ things that you thought would always be there
~ like Grammy's wonderful flowerbeds.

When Grammy went into the nursing home
my Aunt took over the love and passion of planting the flowerbeds
as Grammy had for years

This is how it looked in it's "heyday"
and this is how Aunt Dot lovingly planted it
each year from seeds from last years flowers of course!

all these photos were taken by my cousin who is a brilliant photographer in her own right.

Although there are still plenty of perennials planted on the farm
I will miss the simple beauty of the Cosmo
as to me it represents when all was well
and people were carefree and loving
and there were no hard feelings
and no one was fighting over who got what
there was a true sense of family
and LOVE.....
Isn't that all that matters?

Week-end Projects

I am looking forward to this week-end and for the sunshine in the forecast. It puts my thoughts towards my garden and getting my hanging baskets along with my containers planted. I so want some of these:

Along with some of these for my baskets:

And these because they remind me of the farm.....

And I always get these for my old enamel bowl:

And aren't these just so pretty....

And last but not least ~ for this trip ~ lots and lots of these:

Don't you just love their little faces?? They were Dad's favorites.

Have a wonderful week-end!
