Victoria Day Week-end

It's Monday afternoon

a holiday here

and I am sitting watching Oprah

I must admit

I am a little teary eyed

bawling now

and I am only 20 minutes into it

look out for Wednesday ~ 

I am sure I will be a ball of tears

and you will be able to find me under the 

mountain of tissues...

OK - breathe deep!

Now I did not sit in front of the tv all week-end

although the weather did not cooperate fully

with my plans ~ the sun did shine

but it was cool

Saturday actually was downright cold

so we used that time to do a few things inside

and run some errands

one of which was a new BBQ

ain't she pretty!

Sunday was warmer

so I got myself all set up

and stained and stained and stained

prepping the wood first with a wood conditioner

then the stain

my hats off to those of you that stain things

on a regular basis

it was quite a job ~ but I am proud to say

I am done

now to get them installed ~ we will see how long that will take!!

this afternoon Mom & I went on a garden center excursion

we hit 3

then came home and planted some of my containers

still not finished yet though ~ will get some shots 

when I am finished

this little nest was at my local nursery

my favorite spot ~ and he is always happy to see me!

they had 2 nests that I could see

and they had signs up to ensure they were not touched

so all in all

it was a good week-end

I would say an equal amount of work

and relaxation ~ which is how it should be

best thing ~ it's a 4 day work week

let's hope it flies by

Friday Potpourri

it has been a busy week

and I am pleased to announce

that after all the rain

the sun did shine down upon us

Wednesday night

I left work ~ people were smiling

they had their sunglasses on

isn't it amazing how a little thing like sunshine

can change people's attitudes

after what seemed like non-stop rain

 

I look now to the week-end

a long one for us here in Canada

as we celebrate Victoria Day on Monday

my to do list is full of fun

well ~ most of it

planting my containers which entails

a visit to the garden center

a BBQ or two

maybe some drinks with the neighbors

and if the sun decides to stick around

maybe I can get to staining

that 7 miles of baseboards!

of course the lawn needs mowed

and the patio furniture needs to be put out

and cleaned

but even though these things are technically work

they make me smile

because it is warming up

it was a long cold winter

so to my fellow Canucks

Happy Long Week-end

and to the rest

my wish for you is sunshine

Sweet Dreams Are Made of These....

Once upon a time

there was an ordinary girl

living an ordinary life

in Eastern Canada

she loved pretty things

flowers ~ antiques ~ cupcakes

and most of all

her family and friends

she also loved photography

and by looking and learning

then buying a new camera (big step)

started taking some pictures of her own

when she decided to start a blog

2 years ago

she never dreamed that she would meet

so many wonderful people

from all over the world

a meeting of kindred spirits

finding faith and hope 

in words and photos

celebrating good times

and coming together in times of need...

Jumping out of 3rd person now

I have grown so much

these past 2 years 

I still love planning a post

getting the right shot

or finding it on the net

I must admit ~ I do not comment nearly enough

I read and sometimes giggle or laugh out loud

and bookmark ideas

I know I should ~ because I love getting comments myself

I will try to do better ~ in the future

so tomorrow I celebrate

2 years here at Wildflowers

it has been a journey

and one that I hope to continue

and invite you to come along for the ride

Rainy Days & Mondays

I am a creature of habit

on the week-end I do certain things

on certain days

this week-end I was thrown off kilter

doing things out of my regular order

puts me into a tailspin

I like to think that I am open to change

bendable ~ pliable

but I guess that I am becoming set in my ways

in my old age!

it's still raining

it stops for a bit ~ then starts again

I did get out on Saturday to clean up the flowerbeds

talk about instant gratification

they look good and now I am looking forward

to planning my containers

hopefully next week-end

a girl can dream ~ can't she??!!

another reason I am awaiting the sunshine is

we have our baseboards

all 7 miles of them

that I have to stain ~ outside

see why I am a little anxious

for all this rain to stop...

oh well ~ for now I will be content

to watch the forecast

and pray that the rain will stop

soon.

I will also be thankful that we are not one of the areas

experiencing flooding ~ my heart goes out to those people

impacted by Mother Natures fury.

I have to give a little birthday shout out

as my baby girl turned 4 yesterday

Friday Potpourri

Wow 

Blogger sure knows how

to make a girl cry!

I was having issues yesterday morning

so I tried again last night

nope

oh well ~ I read and actually caught up

on some posts I had missed

unfortunately ~ I was unable to comment on those posts

so please know that I have been around

and visiting you all

it's been a good week

Tuesday night I went to a concert

it was one of my Dad's favorite singers

of all time

I laughed and cried

and sang along with Charley Pride

at 74 ~ he's still got his voice

and sounds the same

and I know Dad was right there

singing along with me

the rain has not stopped all week long

I am thinking of buying a cow

as I don't know when it will dry up enough

to mow the lawn let alone

get out to play in the flowerbeds!

this week-end will be low key

hope to get my chores done and have a little time

to relax

it was pizza for supper tonight

so maybe I will find an exciting new recipe

to try out tomorrow night
