Ditch Water Stinky Feet

Saturday we loaded up
and headed to the cape for the day

these were greeting us when we got there
worth the trip for sure

while the boys surveyed the work
that had been completed on the driveway

us girls went to the cemetery
to plant flowers

when we got back
we headed out on a
tadpole hunt

there were all kinds
and while we billy goated around the rocks
in our flip flops

I casually landed on a sandbar
that was not a sandbar

note to self
ditches do not have sandbars!

so after sucking my foot out of the muck
and then having to dig for my flip flop
all while trying to avoid dropping my camera
in the mud & water...

do you have the mental picture yet
it was quite funny

first she found a toad

but with determination
and jar in hand

she caught only one tadpole
which she released before we left

those buggers are fast!

when we got back to the cottage
Trev was teasing her
that she had

ditch water stinky feet

so that was the ongoing joke
the rest of the afternoon
and into the evening...

we picked a bouquet of wildflowers

and stuck them in a mason jar

it's the only vase to use
at the cottage

there is nothing better
than a tomboy
that likes flowers in here hair!

We had a great day
BBQ'd for supper
then home that evening

it was the kind of day
the memories are made of

Red Dirt Road

You all know
that I am just a country girl at heart

and in the summertime
I tend to go back to my country roots
which includes country music

a couple of weeks ago
I recorded a special that was on tv

it was Brooks & Dunn ~ Final Rodeo

Sugarland sang one of my favorite
Brooks & Dunn songs

Red Dirt Road
click to listen

I really loved this rendition...

you know the lyrics speak to me
they take me back to the cape
and all the good times we had there

thinking back in my early teens
it was the last place I wanted to go on the week-ends

then I fell in love with it
again in my late teens/early 20's

maybe it is a part of growing up....

I was there this week-end
and got some great shots
so look for those
this week....

Happy Monday everyone!!

Little Faces

Today I picked a flower

that means something to me

as I cannot imagine planting a flower garden

without some of these little faces

smiling up at you

they were also my Dad's favorite

so to honor him

on this Father's Day week-end

here are some smiling faces

to brighten your Friday

I wish you a week-end full of

sunshine

and happy memory making moments...

and because of this man

Forever in my heart

Love you & Miss you Dad.

He Loves Me...

How many times
have you picked a daisy

as a little girl

or even a young adult

and picked each petal reciting

he loves me...

he loves me not...

more often than once

we have all landed on the
"he loves me not petal"

of course we now know

that this is not a good way of predicting
a relationship

but it was fun at the time!

whenever I am at the cottage

I like to go out and find me
a bouquet of daisies

plop them in a vase
or old bottle
and put them on the table to enjoy

retro daisies bring a smile and a memory

fondant daisies are always a treat
whether there are just a few

or plentiful

hello gorgeous!
from Tiffany

leave me though

with the little gem

that Mother Nature
sprinkles around for us each summer

and fall in love

all over again

Thank you all for all the wonderful comments
on my last little project

I cannot believe it took me that long to actually
sit down and do it

Thank You again to Donna
for giving me an excuse to
Gitter Done!

now to keep it up..... yeah
must*do*that

Have a wonderful Wednesday
and don't forget to smile at the daisies...
