Face Time

For me Facebook has been

both a blessing and a curse

the blessing is how I have reconnected 

with people from the past 

and then got some "face time"

some great reunions

the curse is spending way too much time

on the computer

and not having "face time" with 

some great friends

birthdays come down to wall posts

and "likes"

it is something I hope to change this year

using the social network to make plans

so we can get together to talk

face to face

I touched on my week-end on Monday

about how I got together with a couple of old friends

Tracey, Angie & I

went to junior high together

and using Facebook made plans for Saturday night

we went out to dinner then back to my place

we had too much to drink

danced and sang until our throats hurt

and laughed a lot

it was one of the greatest nights ~ it really was.

46 in 46 ~ Part 2

I chose Monday's for my list
as next week is the big day

because I  am celebrating 46 candles this year
I have put together 46 things about myself

24.  My favorite CD to clean the house to is

Black Crowes ~ Shake Your Money Maker

mind you the next one that goes on could be

Disco or Patsy Cline

but I need to know all the words to all the songs

25.  I cherish my friendships 

they are like sisters to me

and it is always nice to know that if you had to pick up

the phone in the middle of the night ~ you can dial more

than one number ~ I am blessed

26.  Planning and planting my flowerbeds in the spring

is one of my favorite tasks.  Going to the local nursery

and coming home to dig in the dirt.

Weeding is therapeutic ~ it is instant gratification

27.  I could spend an entire week-end

laying in the hammock and reading a book

28.  My 1st love was Donny Osmond ~ then in the 80's

it switched to Rob Lowe

Dark hair and eyes ~ then I married a blue eyed blonde

29.  I like my own handwriting and I always get complimented on it

30.  Milk Chocolate for me please ~ Cadbury or Lindt

31.  I was born on Easter Sunday ~ Mom calls me her bad egg

32.  I believe in fate and wishing upon stars

33.  I wonder if we will be reunited with our loved ones in heaven

I hope so

34.  I love wildflowers ~ betcha already knew that one!

35.  I dream of traveling the world

now to win the lottery to be able to do it

36.  I love living in a place where we have 4 distinct seasons

although the winter is my least favorite one

37.  I had allergies up until my early 20's

then I grew out of them

38.  I love a summer shower

I have been known to run out in the backyard

and dance on the lawn

39.  Cheesy as it sounds

walking on the beach at sunset

with the one that makes your heart happy

is romance at its best

40.  I always wanted to get married in a field 

in a gauzy white dress with a bouquet of wildflowers

then I got a case of Cinderella syndrome

and that dream went out the window

we did however get married outside ~ in a local park

41.  I love my little town where I live which is across the river

from my little city.  It's a bonus when you can drive 

10 minutes in any direction and you are in the country.

42.  My favorite cocktail is a strawberry daiquiri followed by

a peach bellini and I love a good ceaser.

I am a girly girl 

43.  I do my best to be optimistic every single day

44.  80's music ~ love it ~ well most of it

45.  People tease me all the time about my memory.

I have an uncanny knack to remember dates of events and if you

ask some of my friends ~ they will say I know what song was playing 

on the radio at the time!

46.  I love the country in which I live
my faith
my family
and my friends

of course these are all a given ~ but i had to include them...

What a great week-end we had
the weather was gorgeous
and besides the ill effect of too many beverages on
Saturday night ~ Sunday was a semi-productive!

We had a ball ~ laughed ~ danced
and sang to our hearts content

Friday Potpourri

Hello friends...

it has been quite a week

keeping busy ~ checking things off lists

consolidating lists

did I tell you I love lists??!!

errands have been completed

and I am counting the days until vacation

this week-end will be an exciting one
it's girl's night on Saturday night

a couple of old friends are coming over
think wine, old music and memories

Sunday I hope to get a jump start on packing

pulling out summer things is exciting

especially when they fit!

the sun is showing up more these days

and the snow is mostly gone

and what is left does not look nice at all

I think that is why photos of summer

catch my eye these days

I hope everyone had a good week

and that your week-end is perfectly wonderful.

Family

On Sunday I stopped by my Aunt's place

2 of her kids were there

cleaning out the house

sifting through memories

throwing out some things

and holding tight to others

 

you see my Aunt Dot

went into a nursing home in January

as she cannot live on her own anymore

she has Aphasia

she is the oldest of 5

Dad's big sister

and she is the most like my Grandmother

sitting in the house

that holds many memories

of days gone by

it was clear to me

that although we may have had

issues in the past

there is nothing quite like

family

they are lifelines in this crazy ocean

we call life

so big hugs when I left

and I then headed to Mom's

just because 

before I continued on with my day...

46 in 46 ~ Part 1

April has arrived
a snow event in our case
but along with cleaning over the week-end
I started gathering some things together
for our upcoming trip

April is also the month
my birthday falls in
and to borrow from this sweet lady over here
I thought I would put together a list
of 46 things about me
to celebrate 46 years

Since this is quite a list

I thought I would break it down into 2 parts

so I do not bore you to tears

so without further ado

1. I cannot function without coffee in the mornings.  

Some days I think I need an IV attached to my arm.

In the evenings I prefer tea ~ with milk & honey

2.  A day without music is a sad day indeed

3.  I love to swim but prefer a pool

the beach is for sunbathing and bonfires

4.  I took dance lessons as a child ~ tap, baton & ballet

I excelled in tap and baton ~ ballet not so much

5.  I read a book a week on average

I go off by myself at lunch and read

it is my escape ~ my defrag from the morning and 

prepares me for 4 more hours of work

6.  I am organized to a fault ~ it drives some people crazy

7.  With being so organized you would think my house would be spotless

ahhh no ~ although I love a clean house the work that goes into it

after working all week is exhausting

8.  I love ice cream and I am not fussy on the kind

if it's french vanilla or has a swirl of caramel in it ~ all the better

9.  I always have one foot sticking out from under the covers

it's like my toes need to breathe

10.  There is nothing better than laying on a blanket

looking up at stars on a warm summers night

11.  I record Days of Our Lives every day

it is my brain candy

12.  I have sung on stage with a band and loved it

13.  I am rarely in socks ~ at home you can see me padding around

in bare feet.  I do dig them out in Nov til about April

but I am much happier with bare tootsies

14.  I would love to have one more day with my Dad

not sure if I would pick just a random day where we could sit

maybe down at the cottage and just enjoy each others company

and talk or my wedding day...

15.  Red is my favorite color

16.  I married late as I was 36 then our lives were in turmoil for another

year after that so when we started to "try" for a baby

I went through test after test.  It never happened for us and 

I have learned to accept and live with it.

17.  With that being said I had a ball while I was single

I had the best girlfriends ~ we traveled together

laughed together and cried together

they are the best.

18.  My favorite movie is Pretty Woman

also on the list is St. Elmo's Fire, Shawshank Redemption

and Dirty Dancing

19.  I love getting a pedicure ~ it makes my toes happy

20.  I love anything Disney.  The first time I was in Florida our

1st stop was Magic Kingdom.  Mickey was in his dressing room

so we stood in line ~ 3-20 something girls with a bunch of kids

to see someone dressed up as a mouse ~ yep ~ that was me!

21.  I love to shop ~ not so much at home but a shopping week-end

across the border is a blast.  My fav stores are Target, Kohl's and

Burlington Coat Factory.

22.  Coca-Cola is a vice ~ I love it

23.  I love poems and quotes ~ the more meaning ~ the better

Friday Potpourri

What a beautiful week we had here
on the east coast

milder temperatures and the sun was out
then I hear the forecast
snow!!

so it looks like I may need one of these to cozy up with over the week-end

although I know we will not get that much

or it will not last that long

just the thought of it ~ brrr

is she not just the cutest thing!

so to go along with this prettiness 

on a finallyhereagain Friday

I find myself inspired today

and grateful for everything I have

we pick up our travel documents tonight

and you can believe I have more than 1 list made!

I hope that the past week was kind to you
that you felt the warmth of the sun on your face
