Friday Potpourri

Wow ~ what a ride

it has been quite the week

and I am exhausted...

you see I am a homebody

when I go out it is usually on the week-ends

as the weather warms up and we actually have evenings

that we can get out and enjoy

I emerge from my cocoon and enjoy life a little bit more

so I had tickets offered to me on Monday

for a show I knew Mom would really enjoy

so I picked her up on Wednesday night

and took her to see Tony Orlando

anyone old enough to remember him

"Tie a Yellow Ribbon"

remember him??

well I grew up with it

I did a baton routine to Knock 3 Times

I was styling the pigtails back then

and the white sneakers and knee socks

I have pictures ~ I will dig some out and scan them

for your viewing pleasure

anywhoo ~ I took my Mama out and she really enjoyed herself

and I did too

then last night I went out again

I know I know

Cathy aka one half of thebestneighborsever

asked me to accompany her to another concert

so we saw Chris de Burg

and what a fantastic show

we sang and danced and clapped and yelled

and got home really late and I am really tired

oh ~ I already told you that didn't I 

so this morning I need some pick me up

some happy

some yellow

some ruffles

and tonight I am becoming one with the couch

and watch a little tv

and play a little on the computer

so I can regroup and enjoy my week-end

Instant Gratification

There is nothing like a great spring day

one that is not too hot

but not too cold either

kind of like Goldilocks weather ~ just right

that is what Sunday was like here 

and I headed out to some work in the flowerbeds

they were a mess

here is a before picture of my rock garden

which is mostly grass and lily of the valley

which has taken over this bed

my mistake for planting it here to start with!

it was hard work and this is one that I have to get new edging around

so hopefully next year I will not have this huge task in front of me

weeding and digging in the dirt is instant gratification for me

I love being able to do a job and see the results

I cut back the forsythia quite a bit last fall

and it is showing off for me now

I think it's happy ~ after all yellow is such a happy color!

the forget me nots have taken over a little part of the garden

but they are not here for long ~ so I don't mind that at all

so on Friday I told you about a recipe I found on Pinterest that I was going to try

and I made them on Saturday

they are so so good

sinfully good

there is no link for it on the web so I cannot blame credit the source

and there was no after picture ~ they are not very pretty looking

but tasty little things they are....

I used a muffin tin as I had that or a mini loaf pan

so you take a refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough

it called for the break apart but I used the tube and filled the bottom

of each well.  You then place a Reeses peanut butter cup upside down on top

of the cookie mixture.  Top with prepared brownie mix and fill to 3/4 full.

Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

and voila

don't blame me ~ blame Pinterest.

I could not sign off this morning without documenting a loss in our family

Patti was Trev's parents little girl ~ she just turned 13 

and she crossed the rainbow bridge on Saturday afternoon.

I will miss her kisses and Molly will miss a playmate.

we have a busy week ahead ~ and will be busy making plans for

Mother's Day!

 Saturday night is game night

and I am trying a new recipe found on Pinterest

they look sinful and if all turns out right

you will see pictures on Monday

I want to dig in the dirt ~ transplant some things

and start to plan the beds so they can be planted

on the long week-end

as much as I would love to do it earlier

our last chance for frost is the 24th

love this arrangement in the tub

I hope to plant something like this ~ this year

since last year's arrangement was a bust!

and commenting as this week I have had no time to visit!

it is my boy's birthday today

and after sending him off with a hug & kiss this morning

I will make him a treat and leave it in the fridge 

with a note so he will get it at lunch time

then tonight we will head out to dinner

and it is his choice
