Piece by Piece

This week has been different

yes ~ I am on vacation

but I have also been by myself most of the week

I had a list of things to do

little things really

and although I did go out and get some things done on Monday

my get up and go was not around

until Thursday!

 

My grandmother was a quilter

so when the farm was being cleared out last year

I grabbed this box of quilt pieces

I could not believe all the different fabrics and patterns

she had cut out and saved for a future quilt

so on Tuesday I pulled out the box

and sorted through them all

it was not a small task...

please forgive the picture quality as I did it in the basement

in my craft/junk room!

looking through some of the fabrics I came across
old curtains and clothing
and one that I remember I had a nightie made with it

some were stitched into little circles
so I set those aside and starched and ironed those ones first

I then took an old frame I had
and made a mini quilt in it

I am not sure whether I like it or not
love the concept ~ but maybe it's the frame
please give me some feedback ~ please!!

Thursday I got down to business
hung the sheets on the line ~ really ~ is there anything better?

painted the trim on all the windows on the top floor

tried a new recipe for supper
yummy bruschetta chicken and herbed basmati rice
recipes are linked

then made a chocolate chip banana bread
let me know if you want the recipe 
as I cannot find a link to it

yes ~ all my energy suddenly appeared
do you think that maybe it's because I knew
that vacation was wrapping up??!!

the cosmos are still blooming

brown eyed susies make me smile

along with this little monkey
playing frisbee in the back yard

In retrospect  I think I am the type of person
that needs a deadline to get things done ~ I think I
proved that this week

what is on the agenda today
more painting ~  more ironing
oh yeah and clean the bathrooms

1968 ~ Lunar Green

I am not a car nut ~ I know what I like

and if it is a pretty colour then all the better

Trev was quite put out when I posted on Monday 

about the week-end and said that the truck was a '67

I stand corrected ~ it is a '68

and although the only Ford I said I would drive in

would be a Mustang ~ I do get into the truck

because it is pretty!

Because of my snafu on the year ~ I decided to dedicate

and entire post to it....

Trev had this truck when we got together

it was me and my cat

him and his truck

when we were looking for a house

one of the things that was a must was a garage

for the truck

he is the 2nd owner ~ the person that bought it and 

drove it off the lot passed away 

and it was sold as part of the estate

Trev has had it ever since

she is "3 on the tree"

and no ~ I have never driven it ~ ever

it is in mint condition and gets stored from about 

October to May

and there you have it ~ the '68 Ford

Sunshine and Puppy Dog Kisses

This week-end was gorgeous

not hot by any means

but warm and sunny ~ perfect really

Saturday was a day for errands and work

staining ~ painting

almost done...

so Sunday we hopped in the truck

and went to the camp

Trev's parents place to be exact

and it was beautiful

they are right on a river which despite all the rain we have had

is really low right now

I roamed around just taking random shots

enjoying the sunshine on my face

the last of the flowers ~ still showing off

tomatoes and blackberries just waiting to be picked

this big old brute is Boo ~ Trev's parents dog

she is almost 2 and full of kisses

and of course this is our spoiled brat

as soon as my MIL got up from her chair ~ Molly claimed it!

she was making relish ~ the best hot dog relish eva...

this was our ride ~ Trev's 1967 Ford 

his baby

so it was a very relaxing day full of good company and

of course good food as my MIL is the best cook!

I know that yesterday was an emotional day for many

I took some time to reflect 

and watched the coverage of the anniversary on tv

then I pulled myself up and got ready to greet the day

Friday Potpourri

This is the day when I am usually kicking up my heels
thankful for Friday
but not this week...

the week has flown by

because I am on vacation

and do you know what I have done

nothing!!

ok ~ maybe not nothing ~ but not much

I have puttered ~ just little things are getting done

but do you know what ~ that's ok too

I have slept well

spent way too much time on the computer

Pinterest you say ~ yes yes yes

I started a book at the cottage last week-end

and have not yet finished it

that my friend should be illegal!

this afternoon I am meeting up with a couple of my girlfriends

and we are going back to our high school

it is celebrating it's 50th anniversary

and are having school tours ~ meet and greets

and a bbq ~ I am looking forward to it

we did make it out for supper on Wednesday night

and that was nice

as for the week-end plans ~ they are still up in the air
whatever happens ~ I am sure will be fun
and relaxing.
