Friday Potpourri

Today I am looking for cozy

I am feeling a bit prickly
under the weather
wobbly

been living on tea & toast
the last 3 days

it hit me like a brick wall on Tuesday night
and I am still not feeling 100%
thank goodness for the week-end

thank you for all the wonderful comments on
my last post

I have stopped beating myself up
and instead I will take this as a lesson learned

this week-end I will try and get rid of this bug
once and for all

enjoy a book
take lots of naps
and introduce real food back into my diet!

Wishing you all a great week-end.

Shoulda Coulda Woulda

It seems like time flies by so fast
and there is so much  that I take for granted

things that I put off until tomorrow
not thinking that tomorrow may be too late

I used to be pretty good at just doing it
going out there and doing it at the time
but I think living with
Mr. whydoittodaywhenyoucanputitoffuntiltomorrow
has rubbed off on me a bit

I used to always seemed to know when a visit or phone call
was in order
a keen sense but unfortunately that did not happen for me this time...

at the tender age of 17 I went to work part time
at a department store

I worked my way up the ladder ~ became a supervisor
and then a manager in my 17 year career with them

being always one of the "young ones"
plopped into the Bedding & Drapery department
I was surrounded with a group of women
my other mothers that taught me so much

there are not many of them left
old age took some
diseases like the dreaded "c" word took others
too soon ~ way too soon

an offshoot of the drapery department
was our "Shop at Home"
custom made blinds and draperies
and we did a booming business
with a sales person on the road, an installer
and 2 of us in the office to keep the orders flowing

Phyllis and I became close
she treated me like a daughter
we shared secrets, hopes and dreams
 and on Friday nights
a beer or two at the local tavern

they were the best of times.

We kept in contact ~ not see you once a month close
but dwindled down to once a year
and then cards ~ she never ever forgot my birthday...

every Christmas I would set her card aside saying
I am going to hand deliver it this year
then life happened ~ I got busy
and dropped it in the mail ~ always with the promise
that I will see you soon

it's been 4 years since I hand delivered her card
and now it breaks my heart in 2

I will see her tomorrow for the last time
amidst her family and friends
and I will say goodbye to a special lady
who will live in my heart forever.

Friday Potpourri

What a beautiful week we had
a taste of summer
making us want to spend more time outside
and just soak it all up

it sure put a spring in our step
after trudging through the winter

do you think that is why they call it "Spring"??

this week-end I want to get some things accomplished
that I have been putting off

push away from the computer
get up and do something
stretch my brain and my body
make me think and create

let's hope it all works out

meal planning
healthier living
move more

maybe after a piece of this though
does it not look the best!

Wishing you all a wonderful week-end.

Springtime!

it's here ~ it's here
I wait for this all winter long
and it has arrived

although we usually are still buried under mountains of snow
on the first day of spring
this year we have unseasonable warm temps
that makes things feel more like summer

last night we went out for a walk and I was in capri's
unheard of for the middle of March

today they are calling for a humidex
really??  really!!

then on Friday back to normal temps
not sure what is happening
scares me a little ~ but I will enjoy it while it is here!

we have already seen robins
they make me smile

hope you are enjoying spring like weather
and that the sun shines upon you today.

Dreaming of Spring....

Hello Monday
please try and be kind

the week-end went by way too fast
but it was productive and fun

weather wise I do not think that I have seen a nicer
St. Patty's Day
we are usually buried under mountains of snow
but not this year

I had the windows open
it felt so good to see the sun shining
and a warm breeze blowing

I re-potted my shamrock
I have had it for years ~ it was my very first plant

I had some issues with it last year
my dear cat kept eating it
so I had to find it a new home and it is flourishing

Saturday I came home to an impromptu concert next door
tubas and horns ~ it was quite the site

it was a practical joke for our neighbors
and we all enjoyed it

a little green beer does a heart good
as we all found out that night

we got together with the bestneighborsever
for game night

the board all set up
after playing it together for almost 2 years now
Cathy finally won a game
she was a happy girl!

Molly always comes along
and she got her Irish on

a good time was had by all.

I did a little spring freshening here on the blog
with all the nice weather in the forecast
I am dreaming of spring....

what did you do over the week-end
do tell......
